Gentilhomme Studio has unveiled The Oculus at George Bush International Airport in Houston

As part of the US$1.45bn International Terminal Redevelopment Program (ITRP) at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, Texas Gentilhomme Studio has unveiled The Oculus – a high-impact immersive multimedia experience designed to engage passengers in new, memorable ways and redefine communication within airports.
Branded with the slogan ‘Vision is in the Air,’ The Oculus acts as a dynamic looking glass, reflecting Houston’s past, present and future. It transforms the traditional airport journey into an emotional, engaging and technologically unique experience, and establishes IAH as a world-class, 5-star airport.

Strategically positioned within the new International Central Processor, which serves as a vital connection between the lower-level international arrivals and upper-level departures of Terminals D and E, The Oculus is a 186m2 elliptical structure made from curved, direct-view LED panels. Far beyond a structural marvel, it leverages cutting-edge interactive technologies, including lidar-based sensors, to enable seamless engagement between travelers and the environment. Through 360° real-time and interactive multimedia installations, The Oculus showcases 24 original content variations, totaling approximately 135 minutes, covering Houston’s past, present and future across 10 themes, including Culture, Nature and Space.

Creative force
Gentilhomme Studio served as the creative force behind the entire experience, designing, strategizing and delivering end-to-end storytelling through a mix of live action, CGI, interactive, real-time and even mixed-media content. This groundbreaking project was made possible through the collaboration of industry leaders including Ford AV, Burns Engineering, Nanolumens, Smart Monkeys and AV Stumpfl, working in close partnership with Gentilhomme to bring The Oculus experience to life.

“With The Oculus, we wanted to transform the airport journey into something more human, immersive, emotional and memorable,” explains Thibaut Duverneix, the founder and CEO of Gentilhomme Studio. “It’s not just about technology; it’s about storytelling at scale, and how public spaces can move us.”
Grow your business
According to Airports Council International (ACI), a 1% increase in passenger satisfaction can drive a 1.5% growth in non-aeronautical revenue. Founded in 2014, Gentilhomme has delivered world-class multimedia environments for clients including Orlando International Airport, Nashville International Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport, artists such as Elton John and Tierra Whack, as well as Disney and Meow Wolf. Now, with The Oculus, it is helping George Bush International set a new benchmark in passenger experience, reinforcing its leadership in innovation, design and sense of place.
